While Toronto Blue Jays fans have not been happy with the front office, the team is providing reasons to be optimistic about the future.

The trade deadline didn’t provide the excitement Toronto Blue Jays fans were hoping for with what many call a lacklustre return for Aaron Sanchez and Marcus Stroman.

On the latest edition of the Tip of the Tower Podcast, David Morassutti and Jake Middleton try to provide an optimistic outlook for the team despite many not having faith with the front office. They look at what went wrong at the trade deadline, the aftermath from it, and provide an update of the prospects making a name for themselves.

Here is a summary of what to look for on the latest episode, which you can also listen to below or download here.

David and Jake begin the podcast discussing the Blue Jays getting a bad rep around the league for the way the front office approached the trade deadline. They bring up what the team is trying to accomplish over the long run and why this team is in a much better situation than the ones in worse situations.

They look at the trades and why it’s not the best news in the world but the team obviously has been working to get younger and aren’t too worried about fan perception anymore. The real question is whether the team will be able to put up the money when it matters and Jake believes it will come when the time is right.

When you look at the other top teams in the league, the Blue Jays certainly have a blueprint to follow and things to avoid considering how the World Series champions are struggling to stay in contention.

How have the young prospects not in the major leagues look for the Blue Jays? Jake provides a look at the ones who have impressed and which one didn’t have the best outing in their debuts. Ross Atkins said the team has an abundance of prospects who have the potential to be MLB starters, David wonders if that is actually possible.

Stroman didn’t mince words when he discussed his departure with the Blue Jays, David and Jake wonder whether his comments were justified and why it probably was part of the reason the team was ok to let him go.
