With the NHL trade deadline approaching soon, we look at what the Toronto Maple Leafs may be looking to do and which players could be at the top of the list.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been quiet on the trade front, but it might not stay that way with just a few days left until the trade deadline on Feb. 25.

Losing their third straight game now has people looking to see if the team is going to do something. David Morassutti and Austin Owens discuss what should be the priority and what options could be available.

You can listen to the full episode below or download it using the following link. Warning this was recorded before Nick Jensen was traded to the Washington Capitals.

David and Austin start the podcast discussing the Matt Duchene trade, which happened just before they recorded. Was this the right move for the Senators and what does it mean for the Eastern Conference playoff race?

The conversation then turns towards the Leafs, looking at their loss to the Capitals and how they made some poor decisions at times, rather than being outplayed. Would the team be playing differently if there was a physical presence and is it worth adding?

Looking at what Tom Wilson brings to Washington, there is an argument to be made that Toronto could use a player like that but they aren’t readily available. There have been talks about Adam McQuaid being an option. but David and Austin explain why that isn’t going to be the solution.

William Nylander has been looking more like himself lately. However, for some reason he is still being criticized, even though he hasn’t been the problem for the Leafs recently.

Does general manager Kyle Dubas make a deal ahead of the trade deadline? David and Austin look at what the team is looking to do based on what insiders have been saying and whether there is a particular team they should be looking to target, like Carolina and Anaheim.

Another point to consider is whether coach Mike Babcock will play whoever the Leafs acquire, considering his unwillingness to keep Ron Hainsey off the top pairing. David explains why any player who comes in has to push Babcock to move Hainsey, which means it won’t be a cheap deal for Dubas.
