The stare-down alone made for a tense moment especially with McGregor moving around and Mayweather giving him a serious stare. Dana White made his usual appearance in between the fighters like he normally does at UFC events. It was unlikely to expect the press conference to get too out of hand as they even cut the Irish man’s microphone at points.

McGregor’s built up fame not only comes from what his accomplishments in the octagon but how he promotes the sport with his unique flair. However, some believe that 40-year old boxer won the war of words in Los Angeles.

Talking about his worth as a big money athlete, Mayweather pulled out his $100-million payday from the Manny Pacquiao fight as a reminder that he is the biggest ticket in sport. It was also a gesture made after McGregor brought up the tax issue that Mayweather has been dealing with since 2015 to which Mayweather responded by saying “I’m the IRS and I’m gonna tax your a–!”

The appparent demand for the Toronto event forced it to be moved from the Sony Centre to the Budweiser Stage due to the overwhelming demand for complimentary tickets. Nearly 30,000 people grabbed tickets to the events in New York and Los Angeles. The question going into this press conference is where the fan support lies. Given the city’s support for the UFC, McGregor could be the one that gets the loud roar from the crowd.

When it comes to how Mayweather does in this fight against McGregor. Expect the MMA fighter to try and end the fight early. However, given Mayweather’s technique and smart defensive ability, it will be tough to see McGregor pull it off despite pulling Mayweather out of retirement and him admitting that he is not the same fighter.
