The Buffalo Bills are one win away from reaching the Super Bowl after pulling off a big win over the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Divisional round.

It has been 26 years since the Bills reached the AFC Championship game and they will have to wait and see if they will take on the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs or if they will host the Cleveland Browns. Either way, it’s quite an accomplishment for a Bills team that had a lot to prove in this game.

For weeks, the Bills offense had stolen the spotlight but against Baltimore, their defense came up big. The play that defined the performance was Taron Johnson’s 101-yard interception that not only kept the Ravens out of the endzone but gave Buffalo a much-needed cushion.

Lamar Jackson never looked comfortable and once he started to get some momentum late, he was knocked out of the game with a concussion. This was crucial considering the Bills offense only put up 223 yards in total.

Momentum is definitely on the Bills side as they are on an eight-game winning streak which is their best stretch of games since the 1990 season. This was a game Buffalo needed to show that they could thrive against the physical style of the Ravens defense.

The patience Josh Allen showed patience completing 23-of-37 passes for 206 yards and a touchdown to his favourite target, Stefon Diggs who finished with 106 yards on eight receptions. On the defensive side of the ball, Jerry Hughes had two sacks but it was Johnson who was the hero with his pick-six.

It also helped that Justin Tucker missed a couple of field goal opportunities that might have changed things for the Ravens who struggled to get anything going in the red zone. If the defense can replicate this performance, Buffalo’s chances of going to the Super Bowl seem pretty high.

Of course, those chances really depend on who advances because the Chiefs would likely present a tougher test than the Browns.
