With the CFL trying to push forward towards a 2021 season, the Toronto Argonauts revealed their regular season schedule.

Just like they did in 2020, the Toronto Argonauts will have to wait until Week 2 of the CFL schedule before they kick-off their 2021 season.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will make the trip to BMO Field to take on the revamped Argonauts with kickoff scheduled for 5:00 p.m. ET. Hopefully, this time around Toronto will be looking for a better result than the 64-14 loss they had back in 2019.

One interesting observation, the Argos play two sets of back-to-backs against Hamilton including a rare Wednesday night home game before the Labour Day Classic at Tim Hortons Field. They won’t play the TiCats again after Labour Day.

In past years Toronto would host two games during the Canadian National Exhibition but this time, they were able to sneak in a third one with the rare Wednesday night affair with their QEW rival. This would hopefully increase the chances for the Argos to attract more fans as they will have two Saturday games as a part of their CNE schedule.

The team will also play a neutral site game against the Calgary Stampeders but it’s not known yet what the details are about the game and that’s probably related to COVID-19.

As the Argos mentioned, they host the most Saturday home games in the CFL in 2021 with six at BMO Field and the other being the neutral site game. They also play a game on Halloween for the first time since 1993.

Looking at their schedule they see a pretty balanced schedule as they don’t have their usual trip out west that sees them play a stretch of games against the West. They only have one point where they play the Calgary Stampeders on Oct. 2 then the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Oct. 9.

This could be an attempt by the league to avoid having teams spend too much time on the road because of COVID-19. This could also help teams cut down on travel costs even if some teams find benefits with extended road trips.

As excited as this schedule reveal is, many fans will likely temper some expectations until the league and teams come up with a plan for the season.
