Toronto Argonauts receiver Chandler Worthy opened up about his struggles sharing an important message about perseverance.
The pressure professional athletes deal with is not something most people comprehend, it’s a lot tougher when you face uncertainty, that’s the message Toronto Argonauts receiver Chandler Worthy wanted to share.
Worthy signed a three-year deal after getting some playtime down the stretch that allowed him to showcase himself.
As many were sharing their support on Bell Let’s Talk Day, the Argos shares on their twitter account a video of Worthy sharing his story about the challenges he faced that had him in a tough place.

Sometimes its never easy to open about the struggles you go through in life which is why Worthy’s message is extremely important when you realize how many players lose the chance to live out their dream.
There are a couple of messages from Worthy’s story that should remind people why pursuing a career as a football has many challenges considering how many players get released and struggle to find another chance.
Worthy saw that first hand when he was let go by the New York Jets and Houston Texans.
"“The hardest part about playing professional sports in my opinion, is the uncertainty,” said Worthy. “…I feel like those moments in your life when you’re at your lowest ,no matter what people say, no matter what people do. It doesn’t change the way you feel inside it doesn’t fill that empty hole that you have inside. It just, it was hard because I felt like giving up.”"
Fortunately, Worthy was able to find the strength to overcome his struggles and eventually, was rewarded. He is now hoping that his story can also inspire others.
"“I’m just taking this time to turn around and let kids know that wherever you’re at in life, I know the pain,” said Worthy. “But if you believe in yourself, and you have a dream, and that dream is in your heart, don’t doubt it for one minute because the moment you doubt it is the moment you lose it.”"
The tough part about moments like this is that most people feel like they cannot reach out for help because they are usually taught that they have to overcome these struggles. This is why Bell Let’s Talk Day is crucial to spreading that message because the stigma to remain silent is still present.
Hopefully, Worthy’s message can continue to inspire and if he can reach his potential with the Argos this season, his journey can remind people that a dream is only gone when you close the book on it.
