The Toronto Raptors finished their five-game road trip with a loss to the Dallas Mavericks but the team should be proud of what they accomplished.

Heading on the road for a five-game road, the Toronto Raptors had a tough mountain ahead of them that only got tough after their first game.

Losing Kyle Lowry and Serge Ibaka against the New Orleans Pelicans, Toronto was about to play a stretch of games against star players like LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard and Luka Doncic. They didn’t back down from the challenge and return home following a 3-2 record.

In that time we have seen the bench rise to the occasion not long after head coach Nick Nurse called them out for not showing him enough during pre-season action. It has also forced players like Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet to show that they can handle the workload that they haven’t been accustomed too in the past.

You can say they passed the test even though they probably could have had at least two more wins but in this situation, beggers can’t be choosers.

When it comes to the foul calls on the team. This isn’t something that is new for the Raptors, they haven’t received the benefit of the doubt on calls for a long time. Players like Doncic will get the calls and you have to just find a way to rise above it.

Toronto is now fourth in the Eastern Conference which is where people probably expected them to be but with a stretch of games coming up at home, they can try to make the climb up the standings. It won’t be easy considering how the Boston Celtics are on a roll right now along with the Miami Heat.

However, those teams haven’t had to face the adversity Toronto has so far this season and you can bet the Raptors will be better for it. Although, it would be nice to try and find a way to ease the workload Siakam and VanVleet with a couple of easier matchups coming up.
