Toronto Raptors earn win over Magic despite lack of three-point shooting
The Toronto Raptors picked up their third win of the season against the Orlando Magic despite not being able to shoot consistently from three-point range.
Much like they did in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series, the Toronto Raptors were having a tough time against the Orlando Magic and yet it against most of it was their doing.
Sure, this time they came away with the win but this wasn’t exactly a perfect outing for the Raptors but they certainly did enough to get the win. Kyle Lowry had 26 points while Pascal Siakam added 24 as the team made the necessary adjustments to score 104 points.
One obvious area Toronto wasn’t on their game against Orlando was their shooting from beyond the arc. They finished the game shooting 10-for-39 (25.6 per cent) but made up for it shooting 93.3 per cent from the free-throw line.

While OG Anunoby (2-for-4) and Marc Gasol (2-for-3) didn’t seem to have a problem with their opportunities but the rest of the roster didn’t exactly make the most of their chances. While Lowry led the team in scoring, he was 3-for-11 from three which isn’t the end of the world but not something you want to see consistently from your starting point guard.
Another positive from this game was the Raptors doing a better job outrebounding the Magic 52-47 and limiting Orlando to 89 field goals. They also found a way to get points on the board when the Magic took the lead.
It helped that Lowry came up big in the fourth quarter when it looked like things were going wrong for Toronto. He and Siakam helped the Raptors go on a 13-4 run that helped them run away with things.
The positive thing was seeing Lowry willing to shoot even when things weren’t going for him because eventually, he’ll get his rhythm back and Nick Nurse doesn’t see it as an issue.
"“Nothing really surprises me about him, to be honest with you,” said Nurse to reporters. “He’s just such an experienced guy and such a gamer, man.”"
Getting some shots to fall will be crucial for the Raptors going up against the Detroit Pistons who you know will try to play some tough defence. At least they have this performance to get them going in the right direction.
