In their final pre-season game against the Brooklyn Nets, the Toronto Raptors put on a display with OG Anunoby and Terrance Davis II standing out.

The Toronto Raptors took an opportunity against the Brooklyn nets to showcase what they have to offer heading into the season and there was a lot to be excited about.

All of the expected starters got into the final game of the pre-season and it’s comforting to see them all produce especially Kyle Lowry who has been recovering from off-season surgery. It should also say a lot that Raptors head coach Nick Nurse was trying to get his top players some reps.

On top of that, it also says a lot to see who the coach wants to give an opportunity to get into the rotation and it looks like Terence Davis II is one of those players. The undrafted free agents looks like he has the skills that make him a great value player for Masai Ujiri who has a track record of finding diamonds in the rough.

After struggling with injuries in his second season, it looks like OG Anunoby is ready to put that behind him after putting up 18 points against the Nets. It’s tough to expect the 22-year-old to replace Kawhi Leonard in the starting rotation but he’ll be given every chance to showcase himself as he did on Friday night.

He has the wingspan to be a tough defender and offensive potential that could push the Raptors into top five in the East. It didn’t hurt that he got to spend a lot of time with Leonard last season. While every Raptors fan wishes Kawhi stayed, his departure didn’t leave the team with anything as he made sure to be a strong mentor to Anunoby.

"“The main thing [I learned from Leonard] was patience,” Anunoby told TSN’s Josh Lewenberg. “Like just working hard everyday, being patient with things, knowing stuff doesn’t happen overnight. Then, even on the floor, playing the game patiently, not rushing things, seeing what’s there, taking what’s there, not forcing stuff.”"

Everyone saw the potential Anunoby showed in his rookie season that made him a steal with the 23rd overall pick in 2017. It also helps that he won’t have to do it alone either.

We can probably expect Pascal Siakam and Kyle Lowry to be the focal point of the offence this season and while the odds are saying the Raptors are unlikely to repeat as champions, they can use that as motivation from opening tip-off.

Next. Kyle Lowry’s one-year extension should put fans at ease. dark
