The Toronto Argonauts fell short once again against the Montreal Alouettes but Chandler Worthy was certainly the story of the game.

With Derel Walker unable out to play in Friday’s game against the Montreal Alouettes, Chandler Worthy was the next man up and made a great impression despite the Toronto Argonauts coming up short.

Worthy was second on the team in targets with 11 as he hauled in nine catches for 93 yards and a touchdown. His presence in the lineup was hard to ignore obviously and he certainly deserves to stay for the remainder of the season.

Going into the game, Worthy only played in one game this season making one catch for 15 yards. He returned to Toronto and had been waiting for his opportunity on the practice roster.

What stood out with the 26-year-old was how he was able to make some tough grabs with a defender draped on him. If he can prove to be a dependable deep threat that can get separation from defenders, the Argos might have found a piece to build with going forward.

In this game, the Argos didn’t make the win easy for the Als as they had another chance to make a last-minute charge but Tyler Crapigna’s 51-yard field goal fell short. It was certainly a heartbreaking ending for Toronto especially McLeod Bethel-Thompson.

He was confident that the Argonauts could come away with the win and made enough plays to do that considering the team was close to sending the game to overtime. The team was expected to give Dakota Prukop and Michael O’Connor reps but guessing that because the game was within reach, Cory Chamblin wanted to give Bethel-Thompson the chance to try and get the win.

That might change with only two games left in the season and the Argos needing to see what they have in the younger QBs going forward. Considering how Worthy took the opportunity that was presented to him and ran with it, Toronto could benefit it with two young quarterbacks looking to leave a good impression.
