While Toronto Maple Leafs fans were not happy to see Morgan Rielly left off the All-Star Game roster, there is still a way to get him to San Jose.

When the NHL changed to the 3-on-3  format for the All-Star Game it was supposed to bring a much-needed reboot but now it’s bringing a senseless debate. With the rosters being revealed, Toronto Maple Leafs‘ fans couldn’t help but notice the names left off the rosters.

Auston Matthews and John Tavares will make the trip to San Jose representing the Leafs but many with limited roster sizes it means Mitch Marner, Frederik Andersen and Morgan Rielly were left out.

While Leafs nation is probably not pleased to see Rielly off the roster in favour of Thomas Chabot and Keith Yandle, this is the NHL’s desire to have a representative from each team. In the case of Marner, there was no chance that he was going to make it with two other Leafs’ forwards on the roster and some good forward already representing the Atlantic division.

Andersen definitely deserved to be there but again the league wants a representative from each team. Not having Andersen there, however, it not as bad as seeing a leading candidate for the Norris Trophy left off.

To not have the leading scorer among defencemen should not be the case and luckily for Leafs fans, there is still a way to get Rielly to the All-Star game.

It won’t be easy but the NHL is giving fans a chance to pick a player to go to San Jose with a fan vote starting on Jan. 3 to the 10th.

This is where Leafs Nation can step up and show how they are one of the top fanbases in the league. This is a chance for people to avoid the debate of whether Rielly was snubbed.
