With Vladimir Guerrero Jr. making his debut for the Toronto Blue Jays, we look at other prospects who should get the call to Triple-A Buffalo.

The Toronto Blue Jays have a substantial amount of young talent with their Double-A team, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. The Fisher Cats are leading their division thanks in part to their dynamic duo of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette.

Now that Guerrero Jr. is moving up to Buffalo, the spotlight will continue to shine on Bichette. Dante Bichette‘s son, was selected by the Blue Jays in the second round of the 2016 draft. Bichette has shown he has what it takes to play in the Majors ever since he was drafted.

He has also wasted no time climbing up the Blue Jays’ minor league system. It’s only been two years since he was drafted, and he’s already performing at a high level in Double-A.

In 97 games this season, the 20-year-old is hitting; .273 AVG/.784 OPS with 10 home runs and 57 RBIs. Bichette still needs to improve the power aspect of his swing as he continues to develop, but when you look at those numbers you can say he’s not too far away from getting promoted.

More from Toronto Blue Jays

Cavan Biggio almost always gets forgotten about when you discuss the Blue Jays’ young prospects. But don’t be fooled, he is also a great prospect. Like Bichette, Biggio was drafted back in 2016 and is already in Double-A.

Biggio leads the Fisher Cats in home runs, RBI, OBP, SLG, and OPS this season. But, he also leads the team in strikeouts, with 112.

This shows why Biggio is only hitting at a .249 average so far. When he eventually gets promoted to Triple-A, he will need to avoid the desire to expand the strike zone. This will arguably make him a more well-rounded hitter than say, Guerrero Jr. or Bichette.

Okay, so you’ve probably heard about the players mentioned above, but I bet your asking yourself now: Who the hell is this Canadian pitcher Jordan Romano?

Romano is from Markham, Ontario and was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 10th round back in 2014. In 19 games this season with the Fisher Cats, Romano has pitched to a 10-4 record, with an ERA of 3.40 and a WHIP of 1.033.

He was also called up to make a start at Buffalo earlier this season. It went fairly well; he pitched five innings and gave up four hits on two runs, while striking out three batters.

Romano had Tommy John surgery back in 2015, but luckily, has shown no ill-effects from it. He has a great fastball and slider combo, but will need to work on his curveball and changeup if he wants to become an MLB-caliber starting pitcher.

As talented as the Blue Jays are right now, they have some amazing players in their minor league system, who fans will be seeing play at the MLB level in the very near future.
