Toronto Blue Jays: Breaking down the Roberto Osuna trade
The Toronto Blue Jays decided to move Roberto Osuna ahead of the trade deadline in a deal that answered the biggest question for the team going forward.
One thing that the  Toronto Blue Jays made clear by trading Roberto Osuna to the Houston Astros is that they weren’t interested in dealing with the aftermath from his off-field issues when the time came for his return.
With his return from suspension looming, it seemed like it was a priority for the Blue Jays as they saw the public opinion swaying against him being a player that they would support. At the same time, the Blue Jays knew that they couldn’t afford to give away a player of his calibre for free.

Looking at the trade both sides; Ken Giles, Hector Perez, and David Paulino is probably the best return that the Blue Jays were going to get at this stage. For Houston, they know that players are wavering about having Osuna on board with the team so there’s going be some convincing needed there.
It had been known that the Astros were interested in Osuna for a while and that there probably were discussions with Toronto. Obviously, the suspension impacted his value but didn’t prevent the Blue Jays from getting anything tangible in return.
Here is a breakdown of what is coming back in return for Osuna from Houston.
