Toronto Argonauts: Who is Khiry Robinson?
By Paul Taylor
The Toronto Argonauts have added some invaluable NFL experience at the running back position, but what do we know about Khiry Robinson?
With James Wilder Jr. back in tow, the Toronto Argonauts have one of the best running backs in the CFL. However, it hasn’t stopped them looking for more talent, to strengthen the position.
As a result, the Double Blue have signed international running back Khiry Robinson. Terms of the deal have not been announced at this time.
The addition brings a player with invaluable NFL experience. Robinson played four years in the NFL between 2013-16, including three seasons with the New Orleans Saints.
During his time in the NFL, the 28-year-old rushed for 788 yards and eight touchdowns at 4.1 yards per carry, along with another 178 receiving yards through the air.
Robinson’s most productive season came in 2014 with the Saints, when he played in 10 games and started three. He rushed for 362 yards and three scores, at 4.8 yards a pop.

The undrafted free agent also proved he can produce in the playoffs. A year earlier, he had 102 rushing yards and a score on 21 carries in two postseason games for the Saints, including one start.
Robinson then experienced a fall from grace when he signed with the New York Jets prior to the 2016 season. He injured his leg twice during the year, which limited him to just one game, before he was eventually released by the Jets in March 2017.
Now, after a year away from professional football, the Midland, Texas native is hoping to get his career back on track in the CFL. While there are no guarantees, there is every chance he can provide good depth behind Wilder.
At least Robinson has the mental fortitude to fight for what he wants. As per Argonauts.ca, he transferred to West Texas A&M in college, for the chance to move back to the running back position after a year at safety.
And the decision proved a success, as Robinson rushed for 1,621 yards in 2012 and set the new single-season rushing record for the school. Now, we wait to see if he can produce to a decent level for the Argonauts.
