Toronto Argonauts: 5 questions ahead of the 2018 season
By Paul Taylor
5) Will the Argos repeat as Grey Cup champions?
The Toronto Argonauts know how to win championships. This much is clear, even to the most casual of sports fans in Toronto.
In fact, the Double Blue are the most successful team in CFL history, with 17 Grey Cups. For perspective, the Edmonton Eskimos are second on the list, with 14.

This century alone, the Argos have won three Grey Cups, despite not being particularly consistent. And that’s the key to this fifth and final question.
Can Toronto win consecutive Grey Cups? As successful as they’ve been, they have only ever achieved this feat once, when they won three straight championships between 1945-47.
If nothing else, the Argos may never be better-stocked to finally win back-to-back Grey Cups again. One of the reasons is Ray, who will be determined to go out on top and retire as King of the hill.
It also helps that the franchise is the most stable it’s been in quite some time. Their stadium situation has been resolved, they have new owners and one of the most successful duos you could ask for, in general manager Jim Popp and head coach Trestman.
Of course, none of this is any guarantee of success in 2018. Regardless, the Toronto Argonauts are focused, confident and ready to meet all challenges in the coming months.
