After trading DeMarre Carroll earlier in the day, the Toronto Raptors did not stop there after reports surfaced that they agreed to a sign-and-trade for C.J. Miles from the Indiana Pacers for Corey Joseph.

After striking a deal to trade DeMarr Carroll, Masai Ujiri continues to make noise acquiring C.J. Miles in a sign-and-trade from the Indiana Pacers. Going the other way is 25-year old Corey Joseph from Pickering, Ont., who had two more years left on his deal.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the trades will not announce the signing until the Carroll trade has been finalized. The biggest need for the Raptors was to get below the luxury tax while improving their three-point shooting. Miles is a versatile defender and shooter which is not something the Raptors have right now. He will help the Raptors distribute the ball more effectively while giving them a true outside shooting threat. He is likely to play the small forward position and have Norman Powell see an increase in minutes.

The 30-year-old spent the last three seasons with Indiana, averaging 12 points per game on 41.2 percent shooting overall and 37.4 percent shooting from three-point range. He will help a Raptors offense that was toward the bottom of the league in 3-pointers made and attempted.

Losing Jospeh will be tough not only as the only Canadian on the roster but the way he excelled as a backup point guard especially when Kyle Lowry missed time during the season. With the emergence of Delon Wright, moving Joseph seemed to be inevitable although Wright needs to improve his shooting from beyond the arc. the Raptors also have Fred VanVleet as the third option at point guard which shows the strong depth they have at the position.

The Raptors needed to make some moves after looking PJ Tucker, Patrick Patterson to free agency but adding Miles and OG Anunoby in the draft present intriguing options for the lineup. The Raptors will not have the same strong depth of players that they had last season so it will be important for them to continue to focus on developing players like Bruno Caboclo.
