The Toronto Blue Jays may still be looking for consistency in terms of victories, but they are a team full of surprises. They can always find ways to battle and win games.

The Toronto Blue Jays are a team that shows resiliency. They don’t let tough losses or losing streaks get them down. They focus on taking it one game at a time.

The Jays are a team that have a lot of power. One swing of the bat and it can be a game changer.

We know the Jays have reliable players like Josh Donaldson and Kendrys Morales. However, other players have been stepping it up this year, such as Justin Smoak, Ezequiel Carrera and Ryan Goins.

Scoring late in the game

More from Toronto Blue Jays

As of recent the Jays have been able to capitalize on runs late in the games, which has been very significant for their recent victories. They have been able to unleash power and get home runs in the eighth inning.

For example, in the second game of the series against Seattle, Carrera’s late home run led the Toronto Blue Jays to victory, along with Smoak. Although Smoak getting home runs is no longer a surprise, his confidence at the plate is. He is a whole new player and fans are surprised and excited.

In regards to Carrera, he isn’t normally the type of player to be a threat at the plate, but never underestimate his skill. He is a clutch and smart player. This is what he had to say and Sportsnet got the scoop:

"“It gives me confidence that I can do different stuff on the field like bunting, stealing a base. But on the other side, it’s nice to hit some balls out. I know it’s not going to happen very often for me but it gives me confidence and I know the guys like that.”"

Home run threat mentality

One crucial factor that gets overlooked in system of the Toronto Blue Jays offence, is the focus the home run threat places on opposing pitchers. It is so dangerous even when they don’t manage to go deep, because it get’s into the minds of the pitchers.

Next: Why Justin Smoak should make the All-Star game

They try so hard to pitch carefully to hitters. One mistake and its all over. In regards to home runs it’s appearing as a trend against the Mariners, which is beneficial.
