As The Toronto Blue Jays faced a team outside of the American League east, a rare opponent the Cincinnati Reds, many did not anticipate it would be the biggest win of the season.

The Toronto Blue Jays are finally starting to look like a winning team, with most of their injured players returning. Two major pieces of the puzzle, Josh Donaldson and Troy Tulowitzki, their recipe for continuous winning is looking bright. They are looking like the old Blue Jays team that we are quite familiar with.

These players are hitters not quitters

The home run hitting team is back as they hit three on Monday night. They were unquestionably the major highlights of the game.

More from Toronto Blue Jays

Russell Martin hit the first home run of the game, putting the Jays on top in the bottom of the second inning. With the bases loaded, Justin Smoak hit a ground ball to score a run. Smoak continues to produce with runners in scoring position and it’s showing his success will not be fading anytime soon.

But what happened next was the most spectacular thing to watch. With the bases still loaded, Tulowitzki hit a grandslam. Tulo definitely made a presence in the Rogers Centre and did not disappoint fans.

Sometimes when players come off the disabled list, it takes them time to get their offense going. But clearly this wasn’t the case. The Blue Jays are now trending as the “Grand Slam Blue Jays”, this being Toronto’s third grand slam in five games.

Making history

Along with the grand slam show, the Jays continued to pile up the hits – a chart topping 23 hits, which is the third most in franchise history. The Blue Jays scored 17 runs in the game and best of all, the runs scored were a combined team effort.

Everyone played well in the game. Devon Travis is another player who continues to excel.

Travis got four hits in the game and his current hit streak is at 13. Ezequiel Carrera also got four hits in the game.

Next: Who is the odd man out in the Jays' bullpen?

The Jays are definitely showing everyone that with hard work you can overcome failures. A Nike motivational quote that sums up the season so far is: “the road to athletic greatness is not marked by perfection, but the ability to constantly overcome adversity and failure.”
