As The Toronto Blue Jays were looking to take the first game of the series against their rivals the Texas Rangers, it was nice to get a big game from Devon Travis.

Things are getting exciting for the Toronto Blue Jays as the boys are back in town. Josh Donaldson and Troy Tulowitzki were back in the lineup and it couldn’t come at a better time as the Jays were set to take on the Texas Rangers.

The game was definitely heated as fans did not give a warm welcome to Rougned Odor. Donaldson did not waste any time by getting a double in his first game back. But it was not Donaldson who brought the heat in the game.

Devon Travis hit his second career grand slam. He was looking for something over the middle of the plate to drive. He wanted to stay early in the count. The grand slam continued his hit streak to 10 games. The Jays can without a doubt start to feel things coming together. They can feel it in the noise of the crowd and with the team as the injured players are finally starting to return.

J.A. Happ is set to return on Tuesday, which is great news. The National Post mentioned that Travis’ bat continued to blaze. The affable infielder smashed a double over the head of Texas centre fielder Jared Hoying in the fourth, his 15th double this month, tying the club record for most doubles in the month of May. Travis is on a hot streak and is in the zone.

Travis Sparks Offense

As a player, Travis looks to slow down the game. He is making it look so easy. He gets his motivation and influence from his teammates like Tulo and Donaldson. The Blue Jays are putting together some nice wins as they have now won four in a row. It was the added bonus that the win was against the Rangers, who have now lost four in a row. It is just evident that after the rain there’s always a rainbow.

The Blue Jays currently sit at 22-26. It may not seem like a big deal, but getting to .500 would be spectacular after the poor start they had this season. Sometimes you have to experience heartache or defeat in order to gain success.

It’s true that Travis got off to a slow start. Many have questioned his game, but he has proven many wrong. Travis has always had a spark to his game for a small guy. I remember when he made his major league debut, he had hit a home run against Yankee pitcher Masahiro Tanaka in Yankee Stadium. That’s pretty impressive. In Travis’ hot streak, he hasn’t just hit meaningless singles, he is hitting home runs and doubles, which is what the Jays need.
