Toronto Blue Jays: 3 players who should be acknowledged
The Toronto Blue Jays are bringing life to the game of baseball again and are showing great signs they are capable of turning around their slow start to the 2017 season.
It is with great pleasure that a Toronto Blue Jays team with the most injured players in baseball and a 2-11 start to their season, are turning things around. Accordingly, where there is catastrophe, sooner or later comes fortune.
The Blue Jays have proven that despite the circumstances of losing key players, they still have tough competitors on their roster. They aren’t going to give in without putting up a fight and this has allowed them to gain success.
There are players like Jose Bautista and Kendrys Morales that are known to help out the Jays. But there are three players that have led the Jays to victory, that has been a pleasant surprise.
Ezequiel Carrera
Carrera has been a pleasant surprise for the Jays and has been one of the players that has stepped it up at the plate. Evidently, he has especially been proficient at crucial times in games.

Carrera has the ability to impact each game in specific ways. Either with his bat, through his consistent contact hitting, or his speed.
He is patient at the plate and many are baffled by the idea that he would be a one-two punch in baseball. It’s the players that prove people wrong, who are underrated and come to life in key moments of the game.
Many also forget that he is one of the Jays players who is hitting over .300, which is very impressive. Furthermore, his increased playing time this year is well-earned, as he has been far from a disappointment.
Joe Biagini
Biagini has inevitably picked up where he left off from last season with applaudable pitching. He’s displayed great range with his pitching, while taking on the role as a starter.
Above all, he has shown betterment in offsetting left-handed hitters. Biagini has shown that he has the ability to pitch in numerous roles at significant times in the game.
Biagini pitches with tenacity, by attacking the strike zone with first pitch strikes. He deserves to continue as a starter for the Jays as he shows he is the type of player the Jays can turn to in emergency.
His changeup is a pitch he has been working on this year and has been effective. Devon Travis was impressed with Biagini, as he discussed with CBC following Friday’s 4-0 win over the Seattle Mariners:
"“That was a big one tonight and it started with Biagini,” Travis said. “That guy is nasty man, I’ll tell you.”"
Kevin Pillar
Pillar has definitely worked his way up as the number one hitter for the Jays. He is the definition of a hard worker.
He has become a better hitter in the jays line up, tied with Starlin Castro for most hits. Arguably, he is another player that shows versatility in the game.
Pillar has made some spectacular catches in his time with the Jays. As a result, he has also shown he has speed, as he now has seven stolen bases.
Pillar is the type of player who incorporates aspects into his game that most players wouldn’t think of doing. He’s climbed walls and jumped out for line drives with no intention of looking out for his own safety. This shows how much passion he has for the game and how he shows no fear.
