Toronto Blue Jays Showcase their Skills Against the Yankees
The Toronto Blue Jays went up against the New York Yankees on Monday night at Yankees Stadium and showed them who’s boss.
April has inevitably been a month of bad luck for the Toronto Blue Jays. But as it is now May, this can be a fresh start for the team.
The game against the New York Yankees was a step in the right direction for the Jays, as they beat the Yankees with a score of 7-1. Everything about the game was positive, which is definitely something that both fans and manager John Gibbons can be happy about.
Highlights of the Game
During the Jays’ slump they lacked offence and home runs. As we know, home runs have always been a big part of their game.
Jose Baustista, Chris Coghlan, and Ryan Goins all homered on Monday night. Two of the home runs were not solo home runs, allowing the Jays to cash in more runs.

It was odd, but great for both Coghlan and Goins to get a home run in the same game. This is a positive sign, as the Jays are starting to hit more home runs as a team.
The bats came alive against the Yankees, which shows how the players are turning things around. Everyone contributed in the game, which is crucial as one player can’t carry the whole offence.
Another pleasant surprise in the game was Goins getting four RBI’s. We normally wouldn’t expect him to produce numbers like this as they are rare for him, but he can surprise us at times.
Referencing Monday night’s win and the Jays’ recent success in general against the Yankees, CBC Sports said:
"“Still missing injured stars Josh Donaldson and Troy Tulowitzki, the Blue Jays kept up their success against the Yankees, beating them for the 11th time in the last 16 meetings and outscoring them 82-44 in that span.”"
The Jays finally have something to celebrate about, as they now have a three-game winning streak. It may not seem like much, but for the Jays it is worth celebrating after their struggles to start the season.

Hitting was not the only good thing about the Jays win’, as the pitching was also strong. Marco Estrada pitched very well, allowing only one run and pitching into the seventh inning. Estrada was lucky to get run support, as there have been games when the pitchers have performed well but not received any such help.
