The home opener kicked off with a historic pregame celebration, but the celebrating did not end there as they were able to knock off the Boston Bruins. The Leafs pressed hard in the first period scoring three times with Connor Brown, Mitchell Marner and James van Riemsdyk all getting in on the action.

The Bruins pressed hard in the second period but Frederik Andersen was able to hold the fort, keeping the Leafs up by two goals heading into the third.

Milan Michalek was able to tip a perfect pass from Morgan Rielly behind Anton Khudobin to extend the lead to 4-1.

The team had a much more improved performance from their defence. While this victory is encouraging Boston was without Tuukka Rask and Patrice Bergeron, but this is a win that the Leafs can build on and try to put together a solid streak.
