3) Wide Receivers & Tight Ends

Wide receiver depth chart:

Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods, Dez Lewis, Marquise Goodwin, Greg Salas, Greg Little

Tight end depth chart:

Charles Clay, Jim Dray, Blake Annen

Observations:

The only certainties at wide receiver are Watkins and Woods, meaning the other four places are up for grabs. Rex Ryan and the coaching staff have been raving about Lewis’ development from last year, so mark him down for a roster spot.

Goodwin should also make the team, despite being a step behind his teammates, after concentrating on attempting to qualify for the Olympics. While question marks surround the 25-year old’s desire, Ryan loves his speed and potential, which have both been on display in training camp.

Salas is in contention for the number three role, and will make the roster, even if he falls short of the challenge. The Bills love Little’s physical tools, meaning he will take the final spot ahead of the unfortunate Walt Powell and Marcus Easley, who is still on the PUP/injured reserve list.

Turning to tight end, we know Clay is the starter and Dray is his main backup, after being signed for his blocking skills. With four players vying for the third spot, the athletic Annen is currently standing out as the likely winner, with his main competition coming from Chris Gragg.
