Recruiting Roundup: Chase Claypool Set to Announce Decision, Oakville’s Nathan Rourke Preparing for Big Dawg Camp

It’s been a remarkable year for Abbotsford, BC native Chase Claypool. The 6-foot-5 wide receiver absolutely exploded onto the scene earlier this year and hasn’t looked back since, impressing at camps like Sound Mind Sound Body, Notre Dame’s Irish Invasion, and most recently, The Opening.

During Thursday’s 7-on-7 game at The Opening, Claypool showcased his elite athleticism when he hauled in this highlight-reel touchdown catch.

While he continues to impress on the field, Friday is a big day for Claypool, as he is scheduled to announce his verbal commitment for 2016.

A source close to Claypool said that he is down to Notre Dame, Rutgers and Michigan. Although they wouldn’t reveal where Claypool is heading, many recruiting analysts feel that he will verbally commit to Notre Dame.

Of course, nothing is official until he signs his letter of intent on National Signing Day, so teams will still be in hot pursuit of the talented Canadian.

Nathan Rourke Will Attend Mississippi State’s Big Dawg Camp

After taking his talents south of the border this spring, Oakville, ON, native Nathan Rourke is adjusting to life at Edgewood Prep in Alabama.

While the 6-foot-2 quarterback has spent the majority of his summer training, he has also showcased his talents during Edgewood’s 7-on-7 games, providing recruiters with a glimpse of what they can expect this upcoming season.

But with most of the big SEC programs like Alabama and Auburn already set on who their quarterback targets are, Rourke is gaining interest from other programs still in search of their future pivot.

One of those schools is Mississippi State, which doesn’t have a quarterback committed for the class of 2016. Rourke will attend Mississippi State’s Big Dawg Camp on July 17 and if all goes well, it’s safe to assume that the Bulldogs will extend an offer to the Oakville native.

Terrell Jana Gaining Interest

Another Air Raid Academy player quickly gaining interest is Surrey, BC, native Terrell Jana. The 6-foot-1 wide receiver/defensive back will attend Woodberry Forest Prep next season in Virginia, but already holds offers from Ohio UniversityRice, and Nevada.

Another school showing interest in Jana is Rutgers. After attending their camp last month, the Scarlet Knights have kept a keen eye on Jana and will more than likely extend and offer to him in the near future.

Amen Ogbongbemiga Commits to Oklahoma State

Late last month, Calgary, AB native Amen Ogbongbemiga tweeted out that he has verbally committed to Oklahoma State.

Fielding only one other offer from Nevada, Ogbongbemiga decide to verbally commit now instead of waiting to see who else would offer him.

Standing at 6-foot-1, 211 pounds, Ogbongbemiga is a great athlete that plays both linebacker and tight end for Notre Dame high school in Calgary.

With one full season left to play, Ogbongbemiga is sure to draw interest from more schools. But for the time being, the Nigerian native is verbally committed to suiting up for the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Stillwater, OK come 2016.

Also, if you haven’t already read Damon Sayles great profile piece on Ogbongbemiga over at Bleacher Report, I strongly encourage you too. It’s a great article that outlines his remarkable story.
