The Toronto Raptors try to contend for another title in the 2020-21 season.

As the NBA saw a return to action following a much-deserved off-season, the Toronto Raptors face a unique situation as they tip-off against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Gone are Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka, two key veterans who decided to pursue another title run in California but it remained business as usual for the Raptors. They were able to keep Fred VanVleet who earned a solid payday while OG Anunoby goes into the season not needing to worry about his contract status after signing an extension.

Joining the team this off-season are free agents Aron Baynes, DeAndre’ Bembry, Alex Len, Yuta Watanabe and 2020 draft picks Malachi Flynn and Jalen Harris. Obviously, there wasn’t a superstar addition to be made and there was the heartbreak of losing out on Giannis Antetokounmpo.

There is also the lingering talk about the team exploring a trade for James Harden which doesn’t appear to be serious but he’s also a player that’s motivated to play elsewhere. You can never count out the Raptors front office staff in their pursuit of a star player but the baggage Harden brings might make it tough to surrender the big trade package the Houston Rockets want.

As we prepare for the upcoming season, here are some predictions to follow.
