3. The Fun Guy returns

In stark contrast to his return to San Antonio, Kawhi Leonard’s return to Toronto was all love. After being introduced to a rousing ovation, Leonard was honoured with a video tribute, complete with silhouetted footprints retracing the path he took to hit “The Shot” against Philadelphia.

Then, one by one, Leonard went down the line, shaking hands with the front office, then his former teammates, then Kyle Lowry, who presented him with his championship ring.

Leonard then gave a salute to the crowd and just like that, in typical Kawhi fashion, it was back to business. Leonard dropped 23 points, while another former Raptor, Lou Williams, followed up with 18 from the bench.

Pascal Siakam one-upped Leonard with 24, and Norman Powell had 22, but Kawhi’s Clippers got the win, 112-92. For most Raptors fans though, the result didn’t matter much on the night. The main goal was accomplished, as the city made its thanks known to the man who brought them their first NBA Championship.
