Week 7 – at New York Jets

At the week seven mark of last season, the Jets were 1-6 and on their third-string quarterback. It’s hard to believe they’ll be that snakebitten again in 2020.

With the second-hardest schedule in the league according to 2019 opponent win percentage, the Jets have a tough road to contention. Unfortunately, with the fifth-hardest schedule based on the same metric, so do the Bills.

The Jets did win six of their last eight to close out the season last year, but that was against the weakest of the weak. No such gifts will be given on their schedule this year, and with the Bills having their sights set on a division title, they’ll arrive in East Rutherford fired up.

Prediction: 23-20 Bills

Week 8 – vs New England Patriots

The Bills haven’t beaten the Patriots at New Era Field since 2011. Due to the departure of you know who, 2020 marks their best chance to break the streak.

More from Buffalo Bills

Of course it can’t be proven, but the Patriots might be #tankingfortrevor (no, not me, Trevor Lawrence). They seem to be willing to ride with Jarrett Stidham at quarterback this year, and while the jury is still out about what kind of pro he could be, the proven winners in the division should be able to outpace the young starter.

To make up for all of the despair the Patriots have caused the AFC over the years, the football gods bestowed upon them the hardest schedule of 2020. Still, their league-leading defence from a season ago remains.

New England is always going to be well-coached, and will be lying in wait to capitalize on any mistakes. However, if the Bills can put up the points, the Pats’ offence that struggled with the best quarterback of all time likely won’t be able to keep up.

Prediction: 17-10 Bills
