The NFL Draft is now over but the Buffalo Bills are reportedly still looking to improve their roster ahead of the 2019 season.

After adding a plethora of solid players in both free agency and the draft, the Buffalo Bills are reportedly still hoping of adding another to bolster their defence.

After holding a meeting with the Bills earlier this offseason, edge rusher Ziggy Ansah remains a free agent and the team appears hopeful that they could still acquire his services for next season.

The fifth overall pick in the 2013 draft has spent his entire professional career with the Detroit Lions but has now visited with a number of teams around the league.

More from Buffalo Bills

Ansah leaves the Lions with the fourth-most sacks in franchise history, with his ability to get after opposing quarterbacks a truly enticing quality for the Bills – with their own pass rushing efforts ranking 26th in the NFL last season.

The 29-year-old has registered 110 QB hits across his career, with 34 (including 14.5 sacks) coming during his 2015 Pro Bowl season.

If Ansah decides to join Sean McDermott‘s Bills, he would realistically compete with Shaq Lawson for a starting spot – with Jerry Hughes seemingly the only player entrenched in his role along the defensive trenches.

With Trent Murphy and Eddie Yarbrough also on the roster, the addition of Ansah would give the Bills real depth at the position and could promote healthy competition.

Having a strong front seven could truly aid the Bills in their hunt for the post-season, with their linebacker corps the real heart of the defence.

A strong defence has often been attributed to helping teams to success and the Bills have a solid foundation to build from, especially with the recent addition of Ed Oliver as the long-term replacement for Kyle Williams.

With a number of top young players slotting in on defence, the addition of a veteran such as Ansah would help bolster the Buffalo Bills roster and could see the team start to push towards being the best AFC East team after the New England Patriots.
