Buffalo Bills select Vosean Joseph in the fifth round
By James Reeve
After selecting offensive players with their previous three picks, the Buffalo Bills opted to pick linebacker Vosean Joseph in the fifth round of the 2019 draft.
The Buffalo Bills selected Florida Gators linebacker Vosean Joseph in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Joseph’s selection comes on the back of a strong 2018 campaign for the SEC program, which ended with the team securing victory in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
In 13 regular season games in 2018, Joseph earned 93 total tackles (40 solo) with nine of them coming for a loss.

Joseph added a further four sacks, five pass deflections and one fumble recovery on route to a 9-3 record.
His strong junior campaign helped him make the decision to enter the NFL draft, with the Miami native having already helped the Gators to two winning seasons that ended in bowl victories – with the Florida program also winning in the 2017 Outback Bowl.
The Bills’ decision to add a young player to their strong linebacker corps is a sensible move, with 35-year-old veteran Lorenzo Alexander unlikely to play for many more years.
Adding a player that can learn from the experienced Alexander is a move that the Bills will appreciate down the line.
Standing at 6-foot-1, 226lbs, the 21-year-old has good size and stats across his college career that could see him play a role on special teams next year while learning head coach Sean McDermott‘s system.
Joseph plays a fast game and will add another level of athleticism for the Bills, with Joseph likely to project as an outside linebacker with his speed a valuable trait on the outside.
A rotational role in the next two seasons could be the trajectory Joseph takes, with Matt Milano and Tremaine Edmunds currently entrenched alongside Alexander for the immediate future.
Fifth round picks don’t often garner much attention, but the addition of Joseph is one that could benefit the team greatly in the future, especially with depth outside of their main trio.
