With NFL Free Agency now in full swing, the Buffalo Bills have reportedly agreed to a deal with veteran running back Frank Gore.

The Buffalo Bills appear to have added some needed depth to their running back group, with the team reportedly signing Frank Gore as a free agent.

The 35-year-old veteran has agreed to a one-year deal paying him $2 million, according to ESPN insider Adam Schefter.

The former San Francisco 49er and Indianapolis Colt led the Bills’ AFC East rivals the Miami Dolphins in total rushing yards last season, with 722.

Despite leading the Dolphins on the ground, he failed to find the end zone a single time rushing – though he did earn a touchdown with 124 yards through the air.

More from Buffalo Bills

The Bills’ running game was one of the only positives from the team’s offence last season, despite LeSean McCoy having what could be considered a down year by his standards – with just 514 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Adding another body to that group can only do wonders for the Bills, adding another veteran presence who can help take the weight off of young quarterback Josh Allen – a quarterback who also excels on the ground in his own right.

A strong running game can help teams greatly across an NFL season, with most Super Bowl winners having a strong running back situation that can help compliment the team’s passing system.

With the Bills needing to make the post-season far sooner than their last stretch of absences, bolstering the team’s offence is a top priority this offseason.

Allen has a lot of potential in this league, but still needs time to develop and improve his accuracy through the air.

Having experienced rushing options standing behind him in a one-two tandem can only be a positive for the young signal-caller, giving him a security blanket he can lean on if things are not working in the passing game.

Gore’s career is certainly close to coming to the end, with the 2005 third round (65th overall) draft pick turning 36 years old before the start of the 2019 season.

But if he’s able to put up yards like he did in Miami, then he will be a solid addition to Sean McDermott‘s team.
