The Buffalo Bills could do with more help at wide receiver and Texas Tech’s Antoine Wesley could be a steal later in the 2019 Draft.

Zay Jones and Robert Foster are developing into solid, dependable receivers for the Buffalo Bills, but adding more young talent is a necessity heading into the 2019 offseason.

While the Bills’ rushing offence sat at ninth in the NFL entering Week 16, their receiving offence is ranked an abysmal 31st – averaging just 168.7 yards per game.

Jones currently leads the team with 492 yards and four touchdowns on 45 receptions, but undrafted rookie Foster is close behind him with 468 yards and two touchdowns on just 19 receptions.

While these are promising numbers from the two young receivers, it is still lagging far behind other offences in the NFL.

More from Buffalo Bills

Oklahoma’s Marquise Brown has been talked about as having the potential to slide into Day Two of the 2019 Draft, making it a possibility that the Bills could spend their first round pick on getting offensive line help before looking at boosting their receiver depth.

Regardless of whether the Bills are able to land Brown, they should look to add another body later in the draft and the Big 12 could once again be the ideal conference to pick from.

Antoine Wesley of the Texas Tech Red Raiders is an intriguing player in next year’s draft, with the Junior having played just one season of college football.

During his single season playing in the Big 12, he dominated at his position – catching 88 passes for 1,410 yards and nine touchdowns.

His performance this year gives him the second-highest receiving yards total in all of the FBS, sitting just behind UMass Senior Andy Isabella.

Wesley’s standout game from this season saw him haul in 13 receptions for an outstanding 261 yards and three touchdowns, during a 63-49 home win against the Houston Cougars.

The 6-foot-5, 200 pounds receiver came within one yard of passing 200 against Big 12 Champions and CFB Playoff semi-finalists the Oklahoma Sooners, catching 12 passes for 199 yards.

He also added a further 171 yards and two touchdowns against the Texas Longhorns, who finished the season in second place behind the Sooners, now scheduled to face the Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl.

Considering the fact that Wesley has only played one full season of college football, he has performed exceptionally well and has decided to forgo his Senior year to enter the draft.

Wesley brings with him good hands and route running, and a huge body that could give Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen another threat out-wide.

Having a receiving corps of Jones, Foster and Wesley would be far more convincing heading into the 2019 NFL season, with hopes of landing Brown also giving fans some optimism after a disappointing year for the franchise.

With a strong defense and a solid running game, giving the team’s young quarterback more weapons can only be a positive.

If Wesley is available in the third round, the Bills should seriously consider taking him, as his raw talent could see him develop into a solid player in the NFL.
