We review the latest injury news and game odds for the Buffalo Bills, as they prepare to host the New York Jets at New Era Field on Sunday afternoon.

Last Sunday was a rate occurrence for Buffalo Bills fans; a loss with a lot of reason to be optimistic. And the main reason was down to the play of Josh Allen.

Despite losing 21-17 to the Miami Dolphins, it sure felt like Allen’s coming out party. While he’s already offered glimpses of his potential this season, his performance in Miami showed why the Bills drafted him in the first place.

Finally…finally…the Bills seem to have the long-term answer they’ve been looking for at quarterback, since Jim Kelly retired following the 1996 season. Of course, there’s still a long way to go, but the franchise appears headed in the right direction.

Next up, it’s the New York Jets. And as usual, there is a ton of interest in the betting aspect of the game.

More from Buffalo Bills

Compared to their record of 4-8, the Bills are only slightly better against the spread, going 5-7 this season. This is worth noting, given Odds Shark have them as 4-point favorites versus the Jets.

Interestingly, there is a lot of confidence in Sean McDermott‘s team, when it comes to the final outcome. The average predicted scoreline is 29.4-9.0 to the Bills.

Looking at the all-time history between the two teams, the Bills have the edge in a rivalry which dates back to 1960. They lead the overall series 62-54, which includes a win in the solitary playoff meeting with the Jets.

Things look even better for the Bills, when looking at their home games specifically. They have an all-time record of 34-23, for the meetings in Western New York.

This includes winning the most recent game in Buffalo, 21-12 last season. In addition, the 41-10 blowout victory at the Meadowlands just last month, gives them plenty of reason for optimism this weekend.

Turning to the Bills’ official injury report, things are never as bad as they seem, and that is again the case in Week 14. Once more, defensive stalwarts Kyle Williams and Lorenzo Alexander were given days off during the week and will both suit up on Sunday.

Only two players have definitely been ruled out. The first is quarterback Derek Anderson, who was limited in practice all week as he continues his recovery from a concussion he suffered back in Week 8.

The other player who definitely won’t face the Jets, is cornerback Taron Johnson. He suffered a shoulder injury against the Dolphins, in the second start of his rookie season and will be out for a while after undergoing surgery.

Tight end Jason Croom also looks unlikely to play, after being listed as doubtful. He did not take part in practice at all during the week, due to a groin issue.

Wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie is the other player with an uncertain status on this week’s injury report. A toe injury limited him in practice on Thursday and Friday (after sitting out on Wednesday), and he is questionable to face the Jets.

Finally, we have some good news for Buffalo Bills fans, with offensive guard John Miller cleared to play. He missed his first start of the season last week with an oblique injury, but participated in full practice on Thursday and Friday.

Overall, the Bills will have just enough to beat the Jets on Sunday. In addition, we predict they will win by more than the points spread of -4.
