We look at the latest injury news and game odds for the Buffalo Bills, as they prepare to host the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football.

It’s already been a tough season for the Buffalo Bills, who have a 2-5 record and entered Week 8 with the NFL’s worst points differential. And it doesn’t get any easier on Monday night, as they host they red-hot New England Patriots.

To say the Patriots are the Bills’ bogey team, would be a massive understatement. Bill Belichick’s team has a significant psychological hold over the Bills and have done for many years.

This is reflected by Odds Shark making the Bills 14-point underdogs for the game at New Era Field. The average predicted scoreline is actually a slightly smaller gap, at 27.3-16.7, but you get the point.

In respect of the all-time meetings, the two teams have a long history which stretches back nearly 60 years. The Patriots lead the all-time series 72-43-1 in 116 games, including winning the one playoff encounter between the rivals.

More from Buffalo Bills

New England has totally dominated the series, dating back to Dec. 2000. In the last 35 meetings, the Patriots have a staggering 31-4 record against the Bills.

And don’t expect home field advantage to count for much — if anything — on Monday Night. The Bills have won just one of the last 14 meetings in Western New York.

Turning to the injury report, this week’s edition has more names than usual for the Bills, at least in respect of what they’ve been used to so far this season. And yet, it still isn’t as bad as maybe initially feared.

That’s because, as per usual, defensive stalwarts Kyle Williams and Lorenzo Alexander were given time off to rest, and will both be available to face the Patriots. Wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin was in a similar position this past week in terms of receiving rest days, and is also good to go.

The Bills received some positive news, when quarterback Derek Anderson was cleared to play, after being limited in practice due to back and calf issues. This was also a relief, given Josh Allen is still recovering from his right elbow injury.

Running back Taiwan Jones and defensive end Trent Murphy are dealing with a neck and knee injury respectively. Neither practiced all week and are definitely out for the game against the Patriots.

Arguably the biggest concern on the Week 8 injury report, is the condition of star running back LeSean McCoy, who has been in concussion protocol. He was limited in practice all of this past week and is questionable to suit up on Monday night.

With this in mind, Chris Ivory‘s hamstring strain was also worrying. However, after being limited in practice during last week, he was a full participant on Friday and will play.

The only other player on the injury report was offensive tackle Jordan Mills, who has been contending with a knee injury. However, he was also a full participant in practice on Friday, and will suit up against the Patriots.

Taken everything into account, it will probably be a long night for Bills fans. Their beloved team will almost certainly lose, and it will be tough for the team to even cover the points spread.
