We look at the latest injury news and game odds for the Buffalo Bills as they attempt to bounce back from their embarrassing loss in Baltimore, in their home opener against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Everyone knew the Buffalo Bills were in for a tough challenge in Week 1, with the Ravens overwhelming favorites to win. However, did anyone expect the final outcome to be so embarrassing?

The 47-3 loss was a debacle for everyone concerned within the Bills organization. If it’s possible to be ruled out as playoff hopefuls after just one game, then they managed it.

Now, the Bills hand the reigns over to Josh Allen way too soon, as they attempt to bounce back and give their fan base something to cheer about. At least there will be some spark and motivation, as the team returns to Western New York for their home opener against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Chargers are themselves coming off a Week 1 loss, courtesy of the Kansas City Chiefs. However, this is where the positives end for the Bills, as they enter the Week 2 contest as 7.5-point underdogs.

As per Odds Shark, the averaged predicted scoreline is 24.4-17.2 in favor of the Chargers and you could argue that even this is generous. Historically speaking, the Chargers lead the all-time series 24-12-2 versus the Bills, and that includes last season’s 54-24 blow out win in Los Angeles.

That contest is remembered for the debut of Nathan Peterman, who threw five picks and produced arguably the worst start for a quarterback in NFL history. It’s conceivable this also played a part in Sean McDermott‘s decision to bench Peterman so quickly into the new season.

As you’d expect, the Bills’ Week 2 injury report has more players listed following the first game of the season. However, despite including seven players, the reality isn’t actually as bad as the perception.

For example, Kelvin Benjamin, Lorenzo Alexander and Kyle Williams all missed one day of practice this past week. However, this was because they were given time off to rest and all three will play on Sunday.

Julian Stanford was on the injury list with his nose injury for the second consecutive week. However, this was just a precaution, as he was a full participant in practice all week and is available to face the Chargers.

Ray-Ray McCloud III also featured on the list for a second straight week, with a knee injury which forced him to miss the opening game. He did not practice until Friday, but was only a limited participant and he is questionable to play.

The only two players definitely out are Taron Johnson and Shaq Lawson. Neither player participated in practice at all this past week, and are dealing with a shoulder and hamstring injury respectively.

Overall, spurred on by their fans in the home opener, the Bills won’t play as bad as they did in Week 1. However, the likelihood is they will still fall to 0-2 on the season.
