The trade for Corey Coleman has been almost universally praised as a positive for the Buffalo Bills, but what do we actually know about their new wide receiver?

On the first day of practice at training camp, Corey Coleman was telling the Cleveland media how it was time for him to take a big step for the Browns. Well, this is still the case, but now he will look to progress with the Buffalo Bills instead.

In a move first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Coleman was traded to Buffalo in exchange for a seventh round draft pick in 2020. Almost everyone is in agreement that this was a win for the Bills, who add some much-needed speed to their receiving corps.

Of course, this doesn’t actually guarantee success for a Bills team desperate to improve their passing game. The only reason Coleman was even available, was due to inconsistent play during his two years in Cleveland, highlighted by a drop which effectively sealed the Browns’ fate as the second 0-16 team in NFL history last season.

Injuries also hampered the 24-year-old’s development at the NFL level, with him suffering a couple of broken hands. In total, he missed 13 out of a possible 32 games.

In any event, Coleman now gets fresh start in Western New York, which should benefit both him and his new team. Let’s find out more about the Bills’ latest addition:

1) Coleman did it all on the football field at high school, playing as a wide receiver, running back and returner, and even seeing some time as a quarterback and cornerback. He was so gifted, he also excelled at track & field and basketball.

2) Unsurprisingly, Coleman was rated as a four-star recruit by Rivals.com. He made the decision to play his college ball at Baylor University.

3) Coleman made a decent impact during his first year at Baylor, as a redshirt freshman in 2013. However, it was the following year when he announced himself on the national stage, with 64 catches, 1,119 yards and 11 scores in just 10 games.

4) In 2015, the Dallas, Texas native took his game to the next level, as he shredded college defenses. He finished the year with 74 receptions, 1,363 yards and 20 touchdowns, resulting in winning the Biletnikoff Award as the best receiver in college.

5) Coleman decided to skip his senior year and declare for the 2016 NFL draft. He didn’t lack for confidence at the time and it turned out to be a smart move on his part, as he was picked 15th overall by the Browns and signed a four-year, $11.65 million deal.

6) The 2015 Consensus All-American started his NFL career well enough, with seven catches, 173 receiving yards and a couple of scores through two games. As such, we know he’s capable of producing; now he just has to go ahead and actually do this on a consistent basis for the Bills, while also attempting to remain healthy.
