The Toronto Blue Jays are off to rough start to the 2018 season, David Morassutti and Austin Owens look at what’s going wrong and how they should go forward.

Despite the Toronto Blue Jays struggling like they have this past season, it was tough to expect them to be any more competitive especially in the AL East.

(0:00-19:00) David and Austin begin the podcast by looking at the standings and why the Blue Jays will have to do what the New York Yankees did a couple of years ago and take a step back and try to get back on track.

A big reason the team will be limited is by the contracts on the team especially the players who have not been performing or have been injured. The team will have to either make it work or find a way to unload those deals with the big one being Troy Tulowitzki.

They also look at the first two picks in the MLB draft Jordan Groshans and Griffin Conine and where they could potentially project.

(19:00-37:00) David and Austin discuss why Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is in the right place for now in double-A if the team wants to maximize his potential as both a hitter and a fielder. At the same time what’s the point of bringing him up and what will he be contributing to?

This brings it to what got the Blue Jays in this situation as the team was unable to sustain their success from 2015 and why the team should be looking to the future which means a player like Josh Donaldson and J.A. Happ will be the priority to move at the trade deadline.

(37:00-end) David and Austin switch gears to the Toronto Marlies who are having one of the best seasons in team history and what has contributed to that. They look at how the Texas Stars present a great challenge for the younger players.

Are there any players that could get extra consideration for next season with the Toronto Maple Leafs who may not have been given much thought? David and Austin discuss.
