With the help of an easier portion of the schedule, the Toronto Raptors have the potential to finish off an incredibly strong month with only one loss.

It’s been a very good December for the Toronto Raptors. Barring the stinker in LA against the Clippers, it has been smooth sailing. Frankly, they’re taking care of some weak competition the way they should be.

This has put the Raptors in a position to have one of their better months in recent memory. Furthermore, it’s squeezed them into second place in the East, by a hair, and it could hold into the new year.

The remainder of Toronto’s December schedule looks as such:

Thurs, Dec 21st – Raptors @ 76ers

Sat, Dec 23rd – 76ers @ Raptors

Tues, Dec 26th – Raptors @ Mavericks

Wed, Dec 27th – Raptors @ Thunder

Fri, Dec 29th – Hawks @ Raptors

Their only real competition comes against the sole team above-.500, who are the Thunder. Even then, OKC has not fully clicked yet, sitting only one game above .500.

More from Toronto Raptors

While the Hawks are absolutely brutal this year, the Mavericks aren’t much better. Neither team has cracked double-digits in the win column.

Of course, the Philadelphia 76ers are playing some very fun basketball in 2017, but they’re clearly still a work in progress. And with Joel Embiid most-likely sidelined for both games of the home-and-home, the Raptors should be able to handle them.

In fact, one of the few things that will challenge the Toronto Raptors are the two back-to-backs mixed up in all of this. Here’s hoping the lack of sleep doesn’t get to them.

Home dominance

A big factor to Toronto’s 21-8 record is their 11-1 home record. To emphasize, their last home loss was Nov. 5, against the Washington Wizards.

As a result, the Raptors currently hold the best home record in the NBA. Not surprisingly, next in line are the Spurs at 15-2, who are traditionally good at home.

Although the regular season has always been good to them, the Raptors are making clockwork of it this time around. Having modified their style of play, only time will tell if it equals postseason success.
