Ujiri and Lowry have been in contact

Prior to Monday’s report from Bruce Arthur of the Toronto Star, not a whole lot had been said about soon-to-be free agent Kyle Lowry. Well, that all changed in a major way following Arthur’s report.

Although Arthur didn’t necessarily say Lowry is not re-signing with the Raptors, he painted a gloomy picture that more or less warned fans the 31-year-old point guard could depart. He did also mention Lowry’s temperament and the overall haziness of the situation, so it’s tough to have a definitive takeaway from his report.

Ujiri did address this speculation during his presser and said this is rumour season and everyone is going to make a big deal out of everything. More importantly, though, Ujiri said him and Lowry have been in contact and he believes the Philadelphia native wants to stay with the Raptors.

The combination of Arthur’s report and Lowry firing back with this tweet fueled the speculation you’ve likely been hearing about the past couple of days, but based on what Ujiri said Tuesday, the Raptors sound confident they can reach a deal with Lowry.
