Defensive Player of the Year

Nobody

The Raptors are 21st in defensive rating so far this year and nobody has been a bright spot. Lowry is solid but not stellar like last year. DeRozan continues to be a turnstile.

More from Toronto Raptors

DeMarre Carroll has been meh. Patterson has been good in spurts, but is currently injured. JV averages less than a block per game and remains slower than molasses.

CoJo hasn’t been able to keep his man in front of him at all. Pascal Siakam and Poeltl are rookies and jump for every pump fake. Ross gets lost any time his man doesn’t have the ball and Bebe completely lacks fundamentals.

If anything, Dwane Casey should win this award for his performance on the sidelines when the opponent dribbles the ball near him. He’ll actually pretend he’s an additional defender on the sideline to help disorient the opponent. It doesn’t appear to do anything to effect the play, but at least he’s putting some effort in.

Other Nominee: Dwane Casey
