Toronto Blue Jays: Potential Trade Targets Following the Draft

Other names mentioned: Justin Masterson, Jeff Samardzija and Relief Pitching
The rumours of the Blue Jays being interested in Jeff Samardzija have been well documented this season, but they seem farfetched at this point. I think it would be safe to scratch his name off of the Blue Jays short list.
But another name that has a propensity of surfacing in rumours is Justin Masterson. Masterson is set to become a free agent at the end of the season and if the Indians fall out of the AL playoff race, the cash strapped management of Cleveland will have a decision to make on the future of Masterson. Do they risk letting him walk without receiving anything in return?
After those two names, the pitching market of potential “rental pitchers” runs very thin. Names like Kevin Correia, Bruce Chen, Roberto Hernandez, Edinson Volquez and Paul Maholm start to surface. Names that to be honest, are not much better than the current options the Blue Jays already have.
With question marks surrounding the health of Sergio Santos, a laundry list of relief pitchers will be available for the Jays to pick at. Ideally, the Jays would love for Santos to come back and become a weapon out of the bullpen for them. But if that doesn’t happen, the list of guys who specialize out of the bullpen is a long one for the Blue Jays to choose from.
