3) Aiming to return to the Mexico team

Salcedo is an accomplished international defender, having been capped 48 times since 2015 and scoring once. He has even had the opportunity to captain Mexico, which speaks volumes about his leadership skills.

However, without an apparent explanation, Salcedo has been left out of the Mexican senior team in recent months. With Mexico hanging tenuously onto an automatic qualifying spot for the 2022 World Cup with just four games remaining, his omission is surprising.

Regardless, this is a situation where Toronto FC stands to benefit immensely. Salcedo is determined to return to the international side.

Despite the recent setback with Mexico, Salcedo is confident he will play for them once again. As per the Toronto Sun‘s Steve Buffery, he said:

"“I really want to go back to the national team. Every player always wants to represent the national team at the World Cup and I’m very hungry to come back and play for national team again. I want to show them that I deserve to be (back).”"
