Goodbye to a cult legend

Monday was in some respects a sad day, as fan favourite Danny Dichio took to Twitter to confirm his departure from the club. Among other things, he said:

"“I thank each and every player who gave me the privilege of coaching and working with them. You gave me your trust in showing you the process and it gives me great satisfaction seeing our academy graduates succeed in life – not just on the field. You have all made me a better person and coach … and lastly to the fans, your unwavering support and loyalty to myself and the club is truly appreciated.”"

Dichio signed for TFC when they joined MLS in 2007 and quickly made his mark by scoring the first goal in club history. He would go on to score 14 times in 59 appearances.

Following his retirement in 2009, the London, England native remained in Toronto and held various roles on the coaching staff. In total, he spent 15 years with the club and will be greatly missed.
