Offensive line and running backs need to be better

While Allen deserves his fair share of the blame for the loss, the offensive line and running backs shouldn’t get off so easily.

Zack Moss deserves a break considering he suffered a concussion but Devin Singletary couldn’t muster much on the ground as the running backs had a total of nine carries for 22 yards. Allen remains the Bills most effective rusher which isn’t what Buffalo wants at all.

Many will also point to the fact that 84.6% of plays the Bills ran were pass plays. You would expect a team to score more than six points in that case but turnovers obviously played a factor too.

There is no reason why a team shouldn’t be able to punch it in from the three-yard line. Of course, there was more than that as Allen felt like the prey for most of the game and it needs to be cleaned up.

"“We try to keep the best poise we can but understand there’s a sense of urgency, I think for us it will be finding that balance,” center Mitch Morse said after the game. “It was one of those things where you try to keep the best poise that you can, but also have a sense of urgency. And for us, it’ll be finding that balance. They outplayed us. And the final score shows.”"

If the Bills cannot find an answer in the trenches on offense, Allen might have to play the hero more than he would like.
