Adam Brooks getting waived not ideal, roster crunch limiting opportunity

It is always a risk to put players on waiver because it came impact the team’s depth. In the Leafs case, they made the tough decision to waive Adam Brooks hoping he can get through the large group of players who were cut.

Waiving Brooks is a risk and if he gets claimed, it would not be ideal considering he has produced despite  playing in a limited role. It would be a shame that a player the Leafs have spent time developping get scooped up by a team that might not even be competitive like the Senators or Buffalo Sabres.

It also shows the team certainly values players like Pierre Engvall and Michael Amadio over Brooks because those players would have to clear waivers in order to be sent down to the Marlies. If Brooks were to go unclaimed, it would be interesting to see the Leafs bring him up if they put Mikheyev on injured reserve.

Toronto is such a cap crunch that they have to be selectice with the players they have on the roster. It just would have been nice if the team gave Brooks more of an opportunity to build off his limited playing time.
