The Toronto Blue Jays remain in the playoff picture but will need help if they want to overcome some tough odds.

Well, it’s going to take all 162 games….and maybe more to determine whether the Toronto Blue Jays will reach the postseason in back-to-back seasons.

After winning the first two games of their series against the Baltimore Orioles, all that will be on the minds of the Blue Jays players is to finish off the sweep. While that is happening, there will be three other series going on that will play a significant part in what happens next for Toronto.

Just to lay it out simply, the Blue Jays need a loss from either the New York Yankees or the Boston Red Sox in order to have any chance of forcing a tiebreaker game. The Seattle Mariners also remain in the mix as their game was going on during the time this article was written.

Of course, the Blue Jays could have made lives easier on themselves if they didn’t lose two of three games against the Yankees but that’s something they have to live with. What’s important is that they are putting pressure on Boston and New York to win their games which hasn’t been a walk in the park.

Hyun Jin Ryu get his chance to be the Toronto Blue Jays hero in a must-win game

Hyun Jin Ryu will be called upon for in the series finale while also having the full arsenal of the Blue Jays bullpen after they got a much-needed break on Saturday.

There is some risk involved with having Ryu take the mound since he hasn’t gotten past the fifth inning in his last three outings. This could be a situation where the Blue Jays might have a starter ready to step in.

While everyone will have their eyes on the Red Sox and Yankees, it can’t be overstated how important it is for Toronto to get the job done in the eries finale. Ryu isn’t expected to go six or seven innings but as long as he can get through five without putting the team in a hole, they would be in good shape.
