Buffalo Bills run defense need to continue to improve after strong performance

The entire Bills defense did a great job limiting Washington’s offense minus Antonio Gibson’s big touchdown reception.

It was the takeaways off mistakes from Taylor Heinicke that gave Buffalo’s defense the confidence they needed. It says something when the team had more takeaways in Week 3 then they did in the prior two games combined.

"“Obviously in Week 1 [against Pittsburgh], we didn’t take the ball away enough,” Bills safety Jordan Poyer said after the game via WKBW Buffalo. “We just want to continue the momentum… Anytime you go out there on defense, you want to have an opportunity to take the football away.”"

It wasn’t perfect with Washington getting some momentum with 14 points scored in a short span in the second quarter. The offense was more than capable of putting up points and the defense shutout Miami in Week 2 so that unit shouldn’t be a concern by any stretch.

Houston doesn’t exactly present a challenge with Davis Mills at quarterback and not able to get their run game going against the Carolina Panthers. Unless their running backs can find a way to be more productive, the Bills focus likely needs to be Brandin Cooks who is the focal point of the Texans’ offense.
