Round Five – Pick 161 – Tommy Doyle – OT – Miami (Ohio)

The fact that Brandon Beane opted to take three offensive linemen in this draft tells us one of two things: He either really wants to protect Josh Allen or really doesn’t want to see Mitchell Trubisky.

Dipping into the other Miami school, Beane further beefed up the line with Doyle. A member of the All-MAC Team in both 2020 and 2019, Doyle also owns a pretty great Twitter handle, @freestylefalcon. Hopefully we gain some insight into the story behind that one in the coming years.

Doyle should also fit in perfectly in Buffalo due to his background in hockey. A native of Edina, Minn., Doyle grew up with his sights set on the NHL, not the NFL. Clearly, his genetics had other plans.

Round Six – Pick 203 – Marquez Stevenson – WR – Houston

With Marquez Stevenson, the Bills are getting speed, speed and more speed.

A deep threat on every down, Stevenson ran a 4.45 40 at his pro day. If he’s even, he’s leaving.

Stevenson posted his only 1,000+ yard season in 2018, when he snagged 75 balls for 1,019 yards and nine touchdowns. He followed that up with a 2019 campaign that saw him record 52 catches with an insane 17.4 YPC. For reference, in his Heisman-winning season, DeVonta Smith averaged 15.9 YPC. Stevenson only played in five games in 2020, going for 20 catches, 307 yards and four touchdowns.

A burner who should thrive in the slot, Stevenson adds another vertical field-stretcher that defences must honour.
