The Toronto Maple Leafs still own their first round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft and if they decide to keep it, they will have some intriguing options.

For most of the season, there wasn’t a lot of interest when it came to the first round of the 2020 NHL Draft for the Toronto Maple Leafs after their traded their pick to the Carolina Hurricanes.

All that changed when they acquired the Pittsburgh Penguins first rounder in the Kasperi Kapanen trade. There has been some chatter of whether the Leafs would consider trading the pick in a deal to improve the team’s blue line or if they will use it to add some necessary depth to their prospect capital.

Obviously, at 15th overall, the Leafs could get a player that could figure into the team’s plans at some point over the next few years. In the past, they have decided to move it in order to fill immediate needs but at some point, you can’t keep trading your first-round picks.

This is why it’s more than likely that the Leafs go up to the virtual podium and make a selection with this pick because as Kyle Dubas told reporters, there hasn’t been anything compelling enough offered that would make him move it. He also added that the team will look to take the best player available and this could present many options considering this draft is supposed to be a deep class.

We take a look at four players the Leafs could consider if they decide to hold on to the pick.
