3. Hernandez turning into late bloomer

Teoscar Hernandez’s breakout might have come a little late in his career, but better late than never. Hernandez was on absolute fire this season, finishing with a .289/.340/.579 triple slash line. He hit 16 HR in just 50 games and 34 RBI to go along with it.

If he had managed to keep that up over a full 162 game season, we’d be talking about a 45+ HR, 100 RBI campaign. Many are comparing his late breakout to Blue Jays legend and fan favourite Jose Bautista.

Much like Hernandez, Bautista didn’t start to produce at a high level until his late 20’s, with his big breakout season coming in 2010 at the age of 29. Bautista played the same position and although Hernandez isn’t going to provide the same defensive skills that Bautista did, having his bat in the middle of the lineup for years to come will definitely provide a boost to the Jays offence.
