Villar drama an unneeded distraction

The last thing the Blue Jays need is for some drama to create an unnecessary distraction and that is what could be brewing with Jonathan Villar.

It was shown on the broadcast that Villar picked up his equipment and left the dugout after getting pinch-hit by Joe Panik. It was an unfortunate situation but with a lack of contribution coming from Villar, Montoyo had no choice but to go with someone else in that spot.

With runners on base, the move should have been to get Rowdy Tellez in the game considering his hit in the eighth inning led to the Blue Jays only run of the game. If Villar was frustrated by getting the boot from the game, there should have been a conversation had with the manager instead of bringing unwanted attention.

At this rate, Montoyo needs to make it clear that Villar’s action can’t be taken lightly if he intended on sending a message to the team. Unless there is a conversation and understanding with Villar, he should not be in the lineup for Game 2.
